Hello! I'm Osamu, a manga blogger.
The story of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is truly a mixture of "despair" and "hope."
The Demon Slayer Corps members throw themselves into "missions" with no guarantee of returning alive, and we readers have been pushed to the brink of "despair" along with them many times.
Today, out of the many missions (story "parts"), I would like to announce **Osamu's ranking of the toughest missions (parts)**.
It's not just that the enemy was strong,
* How much "unreasonable despair" have you faced?
*How much have you struggled with "mental curses"?
*And what kind of "hope" did you draw from that?
This is a subjective and biased ranking that focuses on the intensity of the "drama of the soul"!
[Demon Slayer] A mix of despair and hope! Osamu's Top 5 "Most Tough Missions (Edition)"
5th place: Mt. Natagumo
[Despair]: The first time I faced the difference in "rank" and the curse of "false bonds"
The reason this mission was "tough" was because it was the first time Tanjiro and his friends had experienced "true despair."
His opponent is Rui, the Lower Moon Five of the Twelve Kizuki.
The "fake family" he created through "fear" and "control" was a powerful "curse" that mocked Tanjiro's "true bond" to the core.
The Nichirin sword broke, the comrades fell, and they prepared to be wiped out.
Furthermore, even Rui is easily defeated by the Pillar (Tomioka Giyuu), showing an overwhelming difference in their ranks.
This was the first "trial," in which, just after a ray of hope (awakening to Hinokami Kagura) had shone, they were shown a hopeless difference in strength that made even that hope pale in comparison.
4th place: Swordsmith Village
[Despair]: The Sanctuary is trampled and the greatest hope is to "overcome the sun."
The village of swordsmiths, which is supposed to be the Demon Slayer Corps' "logistics base" and "sanctuary," is overrun by two "Upper Ranks" (Hantengu and Gyokuro).
This feeling of despair at not being able to protect the place that needed to be protected was extremely harsh.
In particular, Hantengu's ability to "not find his body" is a "curse" that physical attacks cannot affect.
The high level of the Upper Rank demons was demonstrated when they were pushed to the brink of destruction even with two Pillars (Tokito and Kanroji).
However, this despairing mission was also the one that gave birth to the "greatest hope" in the millennium story: "Nezuko overcoming the sun."
3rd place: Red Light District
[Despair]: A demon born from the "limits" of the pillars and the "curse" of society.
In a deadly battle, the Sound Pillar, Uzui Tengen, known as the "strongest" Pillar, lost an arm and an eye to Upper Rank Six Gyutaro and Daki, even though he had no birthmark, revealing the "limits of a Pillar."
Tanjiro and his friends also reached their limits, and at one point a sense of despair spread to the point where they prepared themselves for total annihilation.
What was most cruel of all was that the demons Gyutaro and Daki were masses of "resentment" born from the "curse" of being at the "bottom of society."
Their "bond" was a distorted "real" one, different from the "fake" one at Mount Natagumo.
The Demon Slayer Corps defeated the demons, but they were unable to cut through the curse of society that created them. It was an extremely tough mission, considering the depth of that curse.
2nd place: Mugen Train
[Despair]: A mental curse and an inescapable "unjust death."
The harshness of this mission consists of two stages of "despair."
The first despair was the "dream" of Enmu, the Lower Rank One, a "curse" that dragged people into the "spiritual world." It was an extremely difficult "curse" that physical strength could not overcome.
However, true despair is the second stage.
At the peak of "hope" after defeating Enmu and protecting 200 passengers, the "overwhelming injustice" of Akaza, Upper Rank Three, suddenly appears.
And then the death of Rengoku Kyojuro, who was a symbol of our hope.
The shock of seeing the sacred pillar, the "pillar," being toppled.
The demon escaped, and the Pillar died. If we look at the outcome of the mission alone, it was the ultimate defeat and despair.
However, the "inheritance of the soul" that Rengoku left behind with the "words of power" - "Burn your heart" - was the most important mission, transforming this despair into "hope for the future."
1st place: Mugenjo (Infinite Castle) ~ Final Battle
[Despair]: The Demon Slayer Corps' "annihilation" and the worst "inheritance of the curse"
Osamu's number one choice for the "toughest mission" is this "final battle."
This is no longer a "mission." It is a "war" and the "end (Ragnarok)" of the Demon Slayer Corps.
They are dragged into the "Other World (Infinite Castle)" where the Upper Rank Demon Gods await, and one by one, their comrades lose their lives.
Even the strongest "divine pillars" known as "pillars" can only literally "connect" lives due to the overwhelming difference in quantity and "rank."
And at the moment of "hope" that overcomes all of that and drags Muzan out into the sunlight, the greatest despair comes - "Tanjiro Kamado becomes a demon."
It is a terrible irony that the noble cause of "exterminating demons" turns the "humans who should least become demons" into the "strongest demons (curses)."
This was the "eternal curse" left behind by Muzan.
There is no more cruel "responsibility" than having to kill a friend (Tanjiro) at the hands of friends (Kanao, Giyuu, Inosuke).
This was undoubtedly the most difficult mission in the history of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," including the task of releasing this "worst curse" with everyone's "feelings (Kotodama)."
summary
The above is Osamu's arbitrary ranking of the "toughest missions."
The story of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is structured so that the deeper the despair, the more the "hope" and "human feelings" that overcome it shine brighter.
That is why their battles move our souls so deeply.
It was Osamu.
