Hello! I'm Osamu, a manga blogger.

The Twelve Kizuki are Muzan Kibutsuji's strongest pawns.

They were a symbol of "despair" standing in the way of the Demon Slayer Corps.

However, if we look closely at their "strength" and "Blood Demon Arts," we can see that they are not just fighting abilities, but that they have a conceptual "status" that is similar to the "gods" and "demons" listed in the "Dictionary of Oriental Divine Names."

Today, we're ranking them as "demons"!

Starting from the lowest, we'll get to the bottom of the true nature of their "rank"!

[Demon Slayer] "Twelve Demon Moon" Strength Ranking! Exploring their Demon God Rankings in the "Dictionary of Oriental God Names"

■ Demons with low "rank": Lower rank demons

First, the "lower rank" demons.

Although they are part of the "Twelve Kizuki," their "status" is far from that of a "demon god," as can be seen from the way they were easily dismantled by Muzan.

They are not "gods" as defined in the Dictionary of Oriental Divine Names, but rather belong to the realm of "monsters" or "spirits."

The only one who was a Lower Rank One, Enmu, had the ability to control dreams, which are called "other worlds" in the Magic Encyclopedia, and was of high rank as a Sorcery user, but even so, he had not reached the realm of "myth" shown by the Upper Rank demons.

■ The "Demon God" Realm: Upper Rank Demons

This is where the real action begins.

The Upper Ranks are no longer just monsters. Each one has the status of a demon god, one that has left its mark in mythology.

[Demon God, Sixth Rank]: Gyutaro & Daki (Upper Rank Six)

[Status as a demon]: Vengeful spirit (Onryo) / Plague god (Yakubyogami)

The source of their strength is "grudge."

It is a powerful "curse" that sees them oppressed at the bottom of society, in the red-light district, and "collecting" everything in this world.

In particular, the "poison" of Gyutaro's "blood sickle" is not a physical attack, but the mythical act of a "plague god" who spreads **"plague**.

Although they are not listed in the Dictionary of Oriental Deities, just as Japanese "vengeful spirits" (such as Sugawara no Michizane) brought about epidemics through their curses, they can be said to be "human grudges" elevated to the level of "demons."

[Demon God, Fifth Rank]: Gyokko (Upper Rank Five)

[Status as a demon god]: Evil god of another world / Twisted creator god

The "status" of Gyokutsubo lies in its "pot."

In myths from all over the world, past and present, and in the Dictionary of Magical Tools, the "pot" is a symbol of a gate that connects to another world, and a "womb" that gives birth to "sacred things (or disasters)."

His movement from one pot to another is "spatial teleportation," the fish monster he creates from the pot is "summoning magic," and the transformation of humans into fish is "the curse of transformation."

He has the status of an evil god, who brings the laws of another world into the real world through a magical tool called a jar.

[Demon God, Fourth Rank]: Hantengu (Upper Rank Four)

[Status as a demon]: Night Parade of One Hundred Demons / Incarnation of Emotions

The scary thing about Hantengu is that he is not just one.

In the Dictionary of Oriental Divine Names, there are not many examples of the "emotions" of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure being deified, but he embodies them as "demons."

"Sekido" is the god of thunder, "Karaku" is the god of wind, "Urogi" is the Tengu (bird), and "Aizetsu" is reminiscent of water (spear), they are the very embodiment of the "threat of nature."

He alone embodies the "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons." He is a being of extremely high rank, in which the "concept" of "fear" has become a "demon god."

[Demon God, Third Rank]: Akaza (Upper Rank Three)

[Status as a demon god]: War god / Ashura

Akaza's rank is very easy to understand: **God of Martial Arts**.

He is a kind of "berserker" who worships "strength," and his appearance is reminiscent of the "Asuras" and "Devas" of Indian mythology, which are listed in the "Dictionary of Oriental Deities."

His "Destruction Killing Compass" is a "barrier" and "mandala" of "martial arts" that unfolds around him.

The way he persuaded people to "become a demon" made him seem like a "guru" preaching his own "martial arts teachings."

[Demon God, Second Rank]: Douma (Upper Rank Two)

[Status as a demon god]: False savior god / Grim reaper

If Akaza is the fear of "yang" - "martial arts," then Douma is the fear of "yin" - "nothingness."

His "status" is that of a "false god" who is the founder of the "Mansei Gokuraku Sect."

He eats people in the name of "salvation," and his Blood Demon Art (ice) is the very definition of "cessation of life functions (= death)."

He is the "Grim Reaper (Thanatos)" wearing the mask of "compassion," and is an entity in which the concept of "nothingness" takes the form of a "god."

While the "God of Destruction (Shiva)" in the Dictionary of Oriental Deities governs "death" accompanied by "rebirth," Douma is one of the most vicious "demon gods" who bestows "eternal stasis without rebirth."

[Demon God, First Rank]: Kokushibo (Upper Rank One)

[Status as a demon god]: Fallen God / Demon King of the Moon

And, as expected, the number one ranked demon is this one.

What makes Kokushibo's "status" fundamentally different from other demons is that he was in the realm of "gods" even before he became a "demon."

He is the twin brother of Yoriichi, the user of the "Breath of Beginning."

The "Moon Breathing" technique he uses is unique and is the counterpart to the "Sun Breathing".

In Japanese mythology, the "Sun God (Amaterasu Omikami)" and the "Moon God (Tsukuyomi no Mikoto)" are a pair, and he was originally meant to be the "Moon God."

However, due to the curse of jealousy towards Taiyo (his younger brother), he himself fell into the role of a demon.

This is exactly the structure of the fallen angel (Lucifer) in mythology.

The one who was supposed to become the strongest "God" became the strongest "Demon King."

The "status" he possesses is on a different level from that which other demons have built up from "humans."

summary

The above are Osamu's arbitrary rankings of the "Demon Gods" of the "Twelve Kizuki"!

They're not just monsters,

"Grudge," "Otherworld," "Fear," "Martial Arts," "Emptiness," "Jealousy"...

Perhaps this was something like "human deeds being deified (turned into demons)."

That's why their battle was so fierce and tragic.

Well, the speculation never stops!

It was Osamu.
