[Demon Slayer] Which is the strongest "breathing technique"? "Breath of Total Concentration" type and overall strength ranking

Hello! I'm Osamu, a manga blogger.

The Demon Slayer Corps members of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" use the technique known as "Total Concentration Breathing" to fight against demons beyond human comprehension.

By improving cardiopulmonary function and controlling blood flow throughout the body, one gains the power to approach demons while remaining human.

There are five basic styles of breathing (Water, Fire, Wind, Rock, and Thunder), from which a variety of other breathing styles have been derived, such as Love, Snake, and Mist.

So, today's theme is this!

So, which "breath" is the strongest?

Of course, I am aware that compatibility and skill level with the user will play a role.

But anyway, I, Osamu, have arbitrarily ranked the overall "strength" of each of these "breaths," taking into account the potential of each "breath" as well as the "mythical" and "magical" characteristics that I previously considered!

*Note: The progenitor of all breathing techniques, **Breath of the Sun (Hinokami Kagura)**, is so extraordinary that it has been deemed a "Hall of Fame" and excluded from the rankings this time! It is no longer a "breath" but a "religious ritual" in itself...

Now, let's take a look at Osamu's ranking of the "strongest breathing techniques"!

[Demon Slayer] Which is the strongest "breathing technique"? "Breath of Total Concentration" type and overall strength ranking

5th place: Breath of Mist

[System]: Breath of Wind (derived)

[User]: Tokito Muichiro

First up, in fifth place is the "Breath of Mist" used by the genius Tokito Muichiro.

As the name "Kasumi" suggests, it is characterized by high-speed martial arts and sword techniques that confuse the enemy's perception and make them lose sight of the enemy.

The reason I think this is so "magically" powerful is that it's not just a speed technique, but has an effect similar to a kind of "illusion" or "sorcery."

The enemy finds themselves in a situation where they have been slashed before they even realize it. This was extremely effective against those with supernatural powers, such as the Upper Rank demon Gyokuro.

This is a powerful breathing technique that was maximized by a genius who is descended from a user of the ``Breath of the Sun''.

4th place: Thunder Breathing

[System]: Five major schools

[Users]: Zenitsu Agatsuma, Kaigaku

One of the five major styles, "Thunder Breathing," is the essence of "the ultimate concentration on one point."

Zenitsu's "First Form: Thunderbolt Flash" is the best example of this.

By breathing, he concentrates all of his nerves and blood flow in his legs, literally cutting down his enemies with the speed of "lightning."

This is probably not unrelated to the fact that in mythology, thunder is a symbol of divine wrath and divine punishment.

It may lack defense and adaptability, but it delivers an unavoidable "lightning speed" attack that "slashes the demon's neck." Its lethality holds incredible potential that surpasses other breathing techniques.

3rd place: Breath of Wind

[System]: Five major schools

[User]: Miya Fushikawa

Of the five major styles, "Breath of Wind" is the most "rough" and aggressive.

Its power is tremendous because it is infused with the ``obsession'' and ``hatred'' of its user, Sanemi Shinazugawa.

The Breath of Wind is like the "Aragami" of Japanese mythology, or the "storm" that sweeps away everything.

Slashes that cover a wide range, continuous attacks that know no end. His "annihilation power" and aptitude for "endurance battles" showed enough power to go toe-to-toe with the strongest Upper Rank One, Kokushibo.

This is the strongest offensive breathing technique, which abandons defense and focuses solely on "destruction" - "exterminating demons."

2nd place: Water Breathing

[System]: Five major schools

[Users]: Giyu Tomioka, Tanjiro Kamado (initial version)

Although it is the "most basic of basics," its secret technique reaches the "strongest realm." This is "Water Breathing."

Water can take any shape and find its way into any crevice.

The greatest strength of this breathing technique is its versatility, which allows it to have the best balance of offense and defense and to deal with any enemy and any situation.

And the pinnacle of this is Tomioka Giyuu's **"Eleventh Form: Nagi."

That is no longer a sword technique.

In the Magic Encyclopedia, this is what is called a "Magic Circle"** or "Absolute Defense Barrier" that is deployed around the caster.

This is a truly "magical" secret technique that nullified all attacks from Akaza, the strongest Upper Rank Three.

While it is a basic technique, it has the depth to create a secret technique, which is what makes Water Breathing second place.

1st place: Breath of Fire

[System]: Five major schools

[User]: Rengoku Anjuro

Osamu's choice for the "Strongest Breathing Technique" is **Breath of Fire**!

I can almost hear someone saying, "Huh? Rengoku lost to Akaza."

But remember, he fought Akaza without even a single "birthmark" until the break of dawn without backing down.

Why is fire the strongest?

This is because this breathing technique is the "yang power closest to the Hall of Fame Breath of the Sun."

If "Water" excels at all-purpose "defense" and "response," then "Fire" is the power to burn everything down with its overwhelming "attack power" and "annihilation power."

This breathing technique, which has been passed down from generation to generation by the members of the Rengoku family as their "duty," contains the attribute of the "sun," which demons hate the most.

The tremendously powerful charge shown in "Secret Technique: Ninth Form: Purgatory."

That is the technique of "burning the soul," in which the person attempts to become the "sun" itself while remaining a human.

I can say with confidence that Flame Breathing is the strongest style in terms of its ``mythological nature,'' ``effectiveness'' against demons, and ``closeness'' to ``Sun Breathing''!

[Hall of Fame]: Breath of the Sun (Hinoiki/Hinokami Kagura)

[User]: Tsugokuenichi, Kamado family

The beginning and culmination of every breath.

It was the "act of God" that brought Kibutsuji Muzan to the brink of defeat.

As I wrote in my previous analysis ([Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Analysis] Do the roots of "Total Concentration Breathing" lie in Shinto?), this is not so much a "breathing technique" as it is a "shinji" ritual passed down through the Kamado family.

It is the ultimate "ritual" to exorcise the "curse" of the demon.

It's a breathing technique that goes beyond the realm of being the strongest and truly deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

summary

The above is Osamu's arbitrary ranking of the "strongest breathing techniques"!

Looking at it this way, each breathing technique is strongly connected to the "way of life" and "state of the soul" of the user who uses it.

That's why the battles in "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" shake our souls!

What was your strongest breath?

Please let Osamu know too!

It was Osamu.
