"Azelyuze" is a powerful magic used by Aura the Guillotine, a demon who appears in "Furieren's Parade". This magic is also called "submission magic" and has a very unique mechanism.
How Azelyuze Works
Azelyuze compares the amount of magical power between the opponent and the player on Aura's "Scales of Submission". The player with the greater magical power is able to make the opponent submit. Because of this, Aura boasts of her ability to make opponents submit, as she has a very high amount of magical power.
Aura's Defeat
Aura uses Azelyuze in her battle against Frieren, but Frieren has disguised her magical power and hidden her true power. Aura misjudged Frieren's amount of magical power and believed that she had the upper hand, so when she used this magic, she ended up being dominated by Frieren instead. And when Frieren ordered her to "commit suicide", Aura took her own life.
Aura as a character
Aura is a demon who has lived for over 500 years, and as one of the Seven Sages, she held a very high status and power. Her ruthlessness and calculation have led many enemies to submit to her, but her strength backfired in her battle with Frieren. Her character is portrayed with both strength and vulnerability, making her very popular with readers.
The story of Azeruze and Aura is one of the important episodes in "Frieren's Funeral". Her final scene is depicted very impressively in both the manga and anime, and remains in the hearts of many fans.
